RandomYV runs in a browser tab, but it does not have to stay there. Every phone, tablet and desktop can add it to the home screen or the dock, where it gets its own icon and opens full screen with no address bar in the way.
Nothing is downloaded from an app store and nothing changes about your account. It is the same RandomYV, launched from a nicer place.
Start by opening app.randomyv.com and signing in. Every method below installs whichever site you are currently looking at, so this only works from RandomYV itself.
The quickest way
Open the More menu in the top right and choose Install App. On Android and on desktop Chrome or Edge, your browser takes it from there — confirm, and the icon appears. Everywhere else you will get the steps for your device, which are also written out below.
If you do not see Install App in the menu, RandomYV is already installed — the entry hides itself once there is nothing left to do.
Android
- Tap the ⋮ menu in the top right of your browser.
- Tap Install app, or Add to Home screen.
- Confirm with Install.
Chrome, Edge and Samsung Internet all work. Firefox has the same option under its own menu.
Browsers deliberately hold this option back until you have spent a little time on a site, so if it is not there yet, watch a video or two and look again.
iPhone and iPad
- Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow coming out of it.
- Scroll down the list and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add.
Safari, Chrome and Edge all offer this from the same Share button. If you see an Open as Web App switch, leave it on — that is what gives you the full screen rather than a shortcut back into the browser.
Desktop
In Chrome or Edge, click the install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar. If it is not showing, open the ⋮ menu and choose Install page as app. RandomYV then opens in its own window, and you can pin it to the taskbar or dock like anything else.
In Safari on a Mac, choose File → Add to Dock.
Firefox on the desktop cannot install web apps. RandomYV works normally in a tab there.
Removing it
Delete the icon the way you would delete any app — long press on a phone, right click in the dock or taskbar. Your lists, your watched videos and everything else stay exactly where they were, and the site keeps working in a browser tab.
